Heart of the Community

On April 12, 2025, is DANE Advocacy’s first annual “Heart of the Community” luncheon, dedicated to recognizing leaders in Deaf Advocacy. This year, we honor exceptional individuals committed to fostering safety, dignity, and accessibility for the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community. This event will bring together trailblazers in advocacy, community building, and accessibility, offering a platform for meaningful dialogue on elevating resources and support for Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals affected by trauma.

Event Highlights:

Opening Remarks: Insightful welcome speech by DANE Advocacy leadership, highlighting the event’s purpose and vision and the welcoming of the Mistress of Ceremony for our roundtable discussions. 

Luncheon and Roundtable Discussions: Small group discussions on key topics, including:

             Accessibility in housing and community spaces

            Trauma-informed services for Deaf survivors

            Equity in education and language acquisition

            Collaboration between service providers and advocacy groups

Awards Recognition: Community providers, leaders, and organizations are encouraged to submit award nominations. People receiving awards are provided a free ticket to attend the event and recognized during this time.  

Networking “Cocktail Hour”: Attendees are encouraged to build connections and establish partnerships to sustain efforts beyond the event
